How Much Longer Will Netflix Be On Their Own?

April 13, 2010 Props to Brittany
With the economy in such a recession, the idea of a company having a bunch of different companies wanting to spend huge amounts of their earnings to join up with them. Netflix, though, has four companies reaching out to them for mergers. Read on to find out who you might have to go through to watch movies in the future...

According to Yahoo! News, there are four companies looking to join in with Netflix and create different ways for people to rent movies since Netflix's huge amount of capital that they made this year alone from people with low incomes and high desire for inexpensive entertainment. During this calendar year, Blockbuster and Hollywood Video stores nationwide closed down due to people not being able to spend money to rent monthly movies anymore. The world of video is changing, and so is the world of renting.

This makes it an excellent time to merge companies with similar interests, which is exactly what these companies are thinking when they talk about putting billions of dollars into Netflix to become partners. Amazon, Apple, Microsoft, and Google, want to bring their companies together with Netflix and share their mutual wealth. There are plenty of reasons why these companies want to merge, but the main one is obviously the amount of money Netflix brought in this year, which was especially impressive because of the still-low economic situation.

So we'll see what happens, but these mergers may bring us new products or better options for video renting. I'll stick with free dvd's at the library.

Stay posted for more info when it comes along.
